Ryan's blog

So - anyone ever want to do something cool with their computer, or go somewhere interesting on the internet? and then not know what to do or where to go? Its weird how computers can be such a great tool - but it is still just a tool, and it only will do something if you know what to do with it. At the moment I shouldn't really be looking for distractions on my computer, but I thought it was an interesting thought.

So, what do you do with your computer when you don't have a "job" for it?

Well, I'm trying out the new Performancing plugin for firefox. JustBlogIt wasn't cutting it, let me correct, it wasn't working period. Plus this seems to have a much nicer interface and even keeps track of things like categories.

Check this out... its even got a cool name

Yep, i made it safely to the ground. And here is some worth while pictures.

So, I'm going skydiving this sunday - wtf am i thinking? Hope I don't die, and then you all can hear about the gory details

Now, this is a funny ad. Check out http://www.trunkmonkeyad.com

So, I found some interesting products and things today. The first is the
"Blackdog" a nifty handheld linux server that allows you to carry all your
preferences, programs, etc in your palm. Plus, with the nifty biometric
security you can keep it all protected easily. www.projectblackdog.com

The second is my always-on quest for good programs. Today I found open
workbench an opensource (yes, I like free stuff) for Project Management.
www.openworkbench.org It supposedly integrates with computer associates
enterprise software, and I have yet to figure out if it is biased towards IT
related projects but its still nifty. CA also has another nifty project I
found out about awhile back called Eclipse, which is trying to be an
"everything" software framework - we'll see. http://www.eclipse.org/

I had some more thoughts about my "office productivity innovation", but I'll
have to post that in detail later.

For reference, I also found the opensource gantt project pretty nifty too -
and may or maynot be better than openworkbench, I haven't tested the new one
out yet. www.ganttproject.org

Till tomorrow -

I'm trying to get a project management module started for Drupal - here is where I am starting the discussions http://drupal.org/node/34425

So, I realized that I need to add stuff here if I ever want anyone to read it. That includes posting pictures, putting up my blog regularly, customizing the site, etc etc. So, this is a start. I've started classifying the site based on the different sections of my life and the different purposes of this site.

Hey Everyone, I've started my homepage again at www.ryancross.com let see if some of mynew found space actually gets used.
